Men's Hair Growth Center offers affordable and best hair transplant in Cincinnati, Ohio. A proud native of Cincinnati, Dr. Donath has traveled extensively to hone his skills through first-hand experience with the best facial plastic surgeons in the world, from Beverly Hills to New York City, in order to bring that expertise back to his hometown. It was in Cincinnati where he grew up in a distinctly medical family, with his father a physician and his mother a nurse. The course of medicine through the family did not begin there, though – 14 other doctors preceded Dr. Donath in setting a standard for excellence.

Dr. Donath graduated summa cum laude (highest honors) from Ohio University, where he was a scholarship recipient and was inducted into the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa national honor society. He then completed medical school at the University of Cincinnati, widely recognized as one of the top medical centers in the country, where he was President of the school’s American Medical Student Association chapter, Secretary of the Surgery club, and where he was selected from among his peers for a Research Scholars grant.

Even before medical school, Dr. Donath knew his interest was in surgery, and so during medical school when he fell in love with the anatomy of the face, head, & neck, he elected to pursue a goal of becoming a leader in facial plastic surgery by completing a rigorous five-year residency training program in all aspects of Head and Neck Surgery at St. Louis University, including extensive experience in Facial Plastic Surgery. During this residency, he was fortunate to learn the latest

Techniques in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery from Harvard-trained Facial Plastic Surgery faculty. He additionally spent time studying at Harvard Medical School with the Director of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, Dr. Mack Cheney, gaining invaluable insights on a multitude of procedures while working with Dr. Cheney and his team directly in the operating room at the Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary. Dr. Donath is involved with many charitable organizations.

About Hair Transplant Surgery

Hair transplant surgery is available for men to both restore the thickness of their hair and fill in hair loss with a natural-appearing and permanent outcome with no visible scarring. Many men find that over the natural course of time they lose the density of the hair on their scalp or develop balding areas or may suffer from Male Pattern Baldness (MPH).

Loss of hair normally starts after middle age; however, inherited traits, prescription medications or other conditions can cause the hair loss to start at an earlier age. The medical terminology for MPB is hereditary androgenetic alopecia. This inherited trait starts to develop following puberty. The genes for this trait can come from either side of the family.

Male Pattern Baldness happens when a male is genetically susceptible to the presence of the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT). The shaft diameter and length of the hair at the hairline, crown and/or the top of the head will start to diminish. This process is called hair miniaturization and will eventually lead to the loss of hair in the area.

A hair transplant in Cincinnati procedure is done by harvesting hair follicles from the back of the head. Hair taken from this section of the head is considered to be permanent hair follicle grafts. These hairs are not susceptible to the DHT genetic trait and thus not to miniaturization and hair loss.

Surgical Hair Restoration

Surgical hair transplantation for restoration of hair loss, whether to restore density of thinning hair or to fill patchy balding areas of the scalp, is basically a two-step procedure. The first being the harvesting of hair for implant grafts and the second being the placement of those prepared hair grafts into the recipient sites.

The section of the scalp or donor site where the hair follicles gathered for creation of graft implants is the back of the scalp – horizontally from the middle running from ear to ear. Hair grafts are harvested from this section as they will grow as permanent hair follicles.  These follicles are not susceptible to the hair loss traits resulting in the loss of hair from the top of the head such as Male Pattern Balding.

When utilizing the Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) method a specialized hair punch tool is used that encircles the hair follicles and removes them by punch extraction. With Follicular Unit Transplant (FUT), the surgeon removes a thin strip of hair from the donor site that is used to create the hair grafts for transplant. Transplanting the hair follicles in the recipient site is the same whether FUE or FUT is used to harvest the hair follicles.

Surgical hair restoration Cincinnati is an ever-expanding technologic field.  Included in the latest state-of-the art technology is ARTAS, a robotic technique used during a hair transplant that permits the surgeon to digitally control the process.
